Founded in 1919, our company manufactures high-quality precision glass instruments and devices for laboratory and hospital use.

Under the well-known Assistent® brand, we supply the specialist trade via numerous agencies and dealers in Germany and abroad. We have an extensive standard range – for example volumetric glassware and plastic volumetric instruments or various liquid handling products. This is complemented by a comprehensive range of consumables, disposables and electrical laboratory equipment.

Thanks to the many years of experience and technical expertise of our trained and motivated employees, we are the ideal partner for individual solutions. We are also happy to produce custom-made products or small series for you on request.

Since 1995, the quality management system of Glaswarenfabrik Karl Hecht has been certified by TÜV Hessen in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. The products of the Assistent® brand are sold worldwide exclusively through specialist laboratory and medical-technical retailers. Our employees and sales representatives visit and advise our business partners in Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and Scandinavia directly. Thanks to sophisticated logistics, fast and reliable delivery is guaranteed, which in Germany is partly carried out using our own delivery vehicles.

About us?

History of our company

100 years of experience in production are reflected in the quality and precision of our products. In 1919, Karl Hecht laid the foundation stone of our company in Sitzendorf-Unterweißbach in Thuringia. Over the years, the company has undergone several reorganizations and additional locations have been added in other European countries.

1919: Foundation

Karl Hecht founded the company in April 1919 in the Thuringian municipality of Sitzendorf-Unterweißbach. From then on, he was extensively involved in the production and sale of precision glass instruments for doctors and laboratories.

1945: Relocation of the company headquarters

Due to the political situation in post-war Germany, the company ventures a new start in Sondheim vor der Rhön in Bavaria.

1948: Second branch in Germany

Opening of an additional branch in Bernhausen near Stuttgart.

1962: First company headquarters abroad

Opening of a sales office and warehouse in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, later in Altnau.

1967: Economic success abroad

Establishment of the sales office and warehouse in Igny near Paris, France.

1972: Branch in Austria

Foundation of the sales and warehouse location in Fritzens.

1982: Closure of the company in Bernhausen

Due to the ever-improving infrastructure, the Baden-Württemberg plant can be closed in 1982.

1984: Expansion of the company

1995: Obtaining the DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management certificate

2009: Reorganization of the company

Closure of the warehouse in France. Sondheim now company headquarters and sole production location, foreign locations as sales offices.
